14.05.15 We are the champions!
The final day of SBMC 2014 offered excellent conditions with blue sky and powder snow. Amazed spectators onsite and thousands of viewers watched the spectacular show on real time at Swedish National television’s live webcast.
Kristoffer Turdell is the 2014 SBMC champion in the men’ alpine division. He’s been executing dynamic high speed runs combined with big airs and controlled landings all three days of competing.
Reine Barkered, once again so close to victory in Riksgränsen, made it to the podium with a very similar approach to the mountain, well known as Barkered’s signature style of high speed, no hesitation, solid skiing and big air. He had the highest score of the day in Nordalsbranten, but not enough to catch up with Turdell.
Among the women alpine skiers, Christine Hargin has been riding convincingly all three days. Today she skied an aggressive line with big airs, taking her first win of the year, and her first total victory in Riksgränsen. Evelina Nilsson and Pia Nic Gundersen, of Norway, was in split second place, only 0,57 points behind Hargin.
The snowboard champion is local rider Björn Lindgren, who took his 8th victory in the SBMC history. Folger Forsen was in second place.
Among the telemarkers, the battle between Per Jonsson and Erik Nordin was a true nail biter. Unfortunately Nordin failed the landing in his last run, putting Jonsson on the top of the podium.
